Volunteer with Kiviwama

Kiviwama and Kilipaper welcome volunteers.  Volunteers have the capacity to help with conservation efforts, taking trees from seedling to adult so that Tanzania can stay green and local communities can have the water they need to survive.  Volunteers may also help Kilipaper to make natural, sustainable, hand-made paper that helps to fund Kiviwama's conservation efforts.  The unique volunteer experience with Kiviwama allows you to simultaneously help communities in need, preserve and restore the environment of Tanzania and raise and plant trees in a world that needs more of them.  While making a difference, you will also learn how to play your own part in making for a better country and a better planet.

Opportunities at Kiviwama and Kilipaper are limited only by your own imagination.  Volunteers in the past have helped with publicity and community outreach and have traveled around the region planting trees and getting to know the community.  Others prefer to work directly with the earth, getting to know both members of the community based organization and the natural world that surrounds them.  Such volunteers have the opportunity to collect seedlings from the wild, care for plants in the nursery and build fences to protect the trees the organization plants.

Housing

Ample housing is available in Moshi near Kiviwama, for volunteers staying anywhere between one night and several months.  Foot2Africa, www.foot2afrika.com, is one excellent option, as it provides comfortable and highly affordable housing, meals in the morning, warm and friendly staff and a gateway to additional volunteering and adventure options in the Kilimanjaro region.

Donate to Kiviwama

Kiviwama is a self-funding, community-based organization that is able to reach only so far as its funds will allow.  While Kiviwama has proven highly successful in funding environmental improvements through the sale of trees from its nursery and hand-made Kilipaper products, the organization always needs additional support.
